Can the Church reconcile same-sex blessings with scripture? This quandary takes center stage as we dissect Pope Francis' groundbreaking stance and its apparent clash with biblical directives. The episode is a deep dive into the Vatican's nuanced explanation of same-sex blessings, contrasting them with the traditional sacrament of marriage. Yet, the debate rages on—is it nonsensical to bless what the Bible deems sinful? We tackle this head-on, sharing personal encounters with sin and the deceptive comfort of escaping immediate consequences. Our narrative weaves through the notion that God's silence is not consent, suggesting that suffering might be His profound way of steering us back to righteousness.

Dare we allow cultural shifts to redefine Christianity? This episode doesn't shy away from the tough questions as we probe the trend of modern churches bending to societal pressures, at the risk of mocking divine decrees. We’re not just talking about holding firm to faith; we're challenging listeners to measure their lives against the unchanging yardstick of scripture. With real-life anecdotes peppered throughout, we underscore the urgency of discerning right from wrong through God's lens. It's a clarion call for believers to anchor their moral compass in the eternal definitions set forth by the Creator, emphasizing that our human standards of righteousness are but a dim reflection of His holiness.

Speaker 1:

Faith and Failure's podcast.

Speaker 2:

So on another note, actually not on another, on the same note. So my Jonathan Cahn talked a little bit about like what exactly biblically, what the Pope was doing? Like why is it that way? It is a blatant disregard and disrespect to the Word of God. I don't care who the guy is, you have no authority in the Spirit. You have no authority in the Word. You have no authority from God. If you say what God says is sin is okay, you cannot bless what God says is cursed. You cannot curse what God says is blessed. That is just the facts. So we're going to watch another video it's a very short clip about this and then we're going to read another scripture, but it is the five news. So Pope Francis approved same sex blessings. This just came out four weeks ago when he came out and said he's going to bless it.

Speaker 1:

And Mark Rowling from the Vatican. Pope Francis is now announcing that Roman Catholic priests can administer blessings to same sex couples, with some exceptions. It's a massive change in Vatican policy, the Vatican official saying that those seeking God's love and mercy shouldn't be subject to quote an exhaustive morale analysis to receive it. However, the Vatican says that this should in no way be confused with the sacrament of marriage between a man and a woman. The document says that requests for such blessings for same sex couples should not be denied full stop. Landmark.

Speaker 2:

Now tell me, how in the world is that supposed to clear anything up? You're saying this is not just not like marriage. The devil is the author of confusion, and even in that kind of confusion it's still a bunch of nonsense. That is crazy to me. All right, so let's look at the scripture, and I want you to think about this as we read. They even mock God and say hurry up and do something. Have you ever heard this before? Like people want God to do something. Like if God is real, he would do X, y and Z. This is exactly what Isaiah was talking about. This is Isaiah, chapter five, 19 through 30. They even mock God and say hurry up and do something. We want to see what you can do. Let the Holy One of Israel carry out his plan, for we want to know what it is the scripture entitled little kids.

Speaker 2:

What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil. The dark is light and the light is dark. That bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. What sorrow for those who are wise in their own eyes and think themselves so clever. That's straight up today.

Speaker 2:

Sorrow for those who are heroes at drinking wine and boasts about all the alcohol they can hold. You know, when I was living in sin meth, alcohol, whatever, like we always that's exactly what we did every single time is we would brag about how much alcohol we could hold, how much we didn't get, like when I, when I was like drink, drink every single night when I lived in Orlando. The reason I did it without any remorse is that I would stay up until the crack of dawn. I'd fall asleep and then I wake up just in time for that night to come and start doing it all over again and go out in the cycle for weeks and weeks, and weeks, and weeks and weeks, and I never get hungover. That was a big part of my issue. I never had a consequence with it. I mean, I lost my child, I lost my first wife, there's a lot of other issues, but I never got hungover.

Speaker 2:

So they take bribes to let the wicked go free what's up politics? And they punish the innocent. Now, this is another thing that I don't understand how, depending on what lawyer they have, if someone does something and they are guilty, they can go free. Like we have a jacked up system to where people who are guilty can walk out free, and then we have people out here that are that are trying and really trying to do what they can for their family and they can't get help because they're they're not in poverty yet. They're people where they have to be so broke for them to get help and they have to be so rich for them to get out of trouble.

Speaker 2:

Therefore, just as fire looks up, stubble and dry grass shrivels in the flame, so their roots will not a roll rot sorry, it was like what the rot and their flowers wither, for they have rejected the law of the Lords of Heaven's armies and they have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. That is why the Lord's anger burns against his people. So this is not something about people don't know God. This is about the people of God. That is why the Lord's anger burns against his people and why he has raised his fist to crush them. The mountains tremble and the corpses of his people litter the streets like garbage. But even the Lord's anger is not satisfied. His fist is still poised to strike. He will send a signal to the distant nations far away and whistle to those at the ends of the earth. They will come racing towards Jerusalem.

Speaker 2:

A lot of times we think that the enemy, the devil, is out to do something. We forget that God has ultimate reign over everything and if you ain't doing right, or you're pretending to do right and you're just living a life for yourself, god's hand will rise against you because he loves you that much. Listen to this, listen to the story and I understand that it's harsh. We're like God wouldn't do that. God wouldn't allow that to happen. Yes, he would, because he loves you that much. That's what you're not understanding that God loves you so much he will let you suffer, but everybody thinks that, oh, if God is love, he wouldn't allow suffering in the world. That's the most immature statement you could ever make, because it's false. That's like saying that if you are a loving parent, you will never allow your child to fall, stumble, scrape their knee, burn their hand. But we learn, we mature. We learn how to protect ourselves, how to protect others, how to care for others by understanding the realness of pain. He will send a signal to the distant nations far away and whistle to those at the end of the earth. They will come racing towards Jerusalem. They will not get tired or stumble. They will not stop for rest or sleep A lot of us like to quote the scriptures, where we're rising up on the wings of angels and won't run out of breath, but he's saying that the enemy that he's whistling hey, come on, they're not listening. Have at it Judgment.

Speaker 2:

People think that God of the New Testament yes, he's full of grace and mercy, but he is still the same God and he is a just God, and rightly so and justly so. The punishment that we actually deserve to receive. We don't ever think, we don't like to think about that, but it's the honest truth. We don't deserve God's love and mercy and grace, every blessing that I have in my life. I understand completely that I have not earned it and I do not deserve it, but for some reason and I have no answer why for some reason God still gives me blessings, even in hard times. I know he's still there.

Speaker 2:

Not a belt will be loose, not a sandal strap broken. Their arrows will be sharpened, their bows ready for battle. Sparks will fly from their horses. Hooves and the wheels of their chariots will spin like a whirlwind. They will roar like lions, like the strongest lions growling. They will pounce on their victims and they will carry them off.

Speaker 2:

Why do we fall? So we can learn to get back up with God's help. We can't do life on our own. That's right, which is another reason why God tells us not to forsake the gathering. We got to stop making excuses why we don't want to go to church. Church is full of hypocrites. The world is full of hypocrites. Everywhere you go, it's full of hypocrites. You probably are one if you're saying you love God but you don't adhere to a scripture and carry them off and no one will be there to rescue them. They will roar over their victims on that day of destruction like the roaring of the sea. If someone looks across the land, only darkness and distress will be seen. Even the light will be darkened by the clouds.

Speaker 2:

Isaiah didn't play, but here's what I wanted to highlight right here. They even mock God. So listen, we like to talk about the people who aren't in church and what they're doing wrong, but I think sometimes, with our church culture that we create or things we allow in our churches, like the Pope is doing now, we are mocking God. We are guessing and vetoing evil and allowing a culture to dictate the almighty God's ruling in our lives. They even mock God and say hurry up and do something. We want to see it. Then it says what's all for those who say evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark and bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.

Speaker 2:

We have got to, on purpose with our walk with God, to make sure that we are, as Christians, aligning who we are, what we say, how we say it, how we respond, how we react, everything that we do. If we say we love God, then everything that we do should align with the word of scripture. We do not make the scripture align with us and how we feel. We set our feelings aside and we go off of facts that what God says is good is good. What he says is sin is sin.

Speaker 2:

What he says is wrong is wrong. What he says is right is right Bottom line. That's the end. Our voice doesn't matter in the scenario because he is the creator. He is the one that dictates right from wrong, what is righteous and unrighteous. The Bible says that our righteousness next to his is like filthy rags. So we need to stop trying to play the game of having the culture tell us what Christ is and we need to be infiltrating the culture with who Christ is living through us willing vessels to go out, be who God says we are supposed to be, and not let the world manipulate us by dictating what scripture actually means.
